About

Gandhi Study Centre (GSC) was established as one of the initiatives of His Excellency, the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh on 2nd October 2018 at NIT Arunachal Pradesh, which is a first study centre of its kind in the state with the aim of spreading the messages of Mahatma Gandhi especially among the youth and the people of Arunachal Pradesh. The centre was digitally inaugurated by His Excellency, the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd) on the special occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti. The centre aims at working with schools, colleges, universities, industries, and people of Arunachal Pradesh for disseminating Mahatma Gandhi’s values, ethics, principles, theories, philosophy, etc. and to encourage the youth for entrepreneurship by adopting Gandhian principles and philosophy.

Mission

  • Strive to help establish a world founded on Truth, Ahimsa, Peaceful Co–existence, Conservation and Love for Labour–values cherished and practised by Mahatma Gandhi.
  • Wish to promote the young entrepreneurs and Start-ups in the line of the Khadi/Cottage/Bamboo Industries by technical means.
  • Need to emphasize the simplicity of living and high thinking among students and youth.

Vision

  • To ensure sustainable development through the strategies of Mahatma Gandhi’s movements, designing products and the revival of domestic products and production processes.

Objectives

  • To disseminate the thoughts and messages of Mahatma Gandhi to the present society by conducting various activities.
  • To organize lectures, seminars, symposia, workshops and training programmes on Gandhian philosophy as an outreach programmes in schools and colleges.
  • To encourage the Gandhian literary works to be translated/documented in all languages of Arunachal Pradesh.
  • To encourage young entrepreneurs to adopt Gandhian philosophy and principles in business and management.
  • To uplift or implement cottage Industry as a self-reliant strategy.
  • To assist agriculture by the means of simple technology in the purview of Mahatma Gandhi.
  • To bring in village level solution by NIT such as dissemination of Biogas, Solar Lighting, Renewable Energy etc.
  • To offer courses on Gandhian Thoughts/Philosophy/Values and Ethics to technical students.
  • To establish Mahatma Gandhi Museum at NIT Arunachal Pradesh.
  • To support research on Gandhian’s literary works, philosophy, foreign policies, agricultural management, etc as research programme at NIT Arunachal Pradesh.
